Huh, interesting! I didn't realize there was a difference, so I looked it up. Apparently, in American English, "purse" and "handbag" are interchangeable and mean basically the same thing. In other countries, though, "purse" refers to a small coin pouch? At any rate, whatever you call it, mine is not amused. ;)
