I spent an hour trying to explain to a girl in my class that you don't 'spread gay germs' as you would a virus or something. Her argument was that every time a girl kissed another girl, they both turned gay.
I know several people who have been 'gay' but then magically turned straight a few years later. People like them are the reason why some might think you have a choice in what gender you're attracted to.
I do agree you can't "turn gay" but what if you're not sure of your sexuality? What if you think you're straight but not for sure but then you kiss the opposite gender or something, and you finally relise you're gay?
Then you might have just been confused ? I've known people who thought they were at least bi but realized they were just straight.
I thought I was a lesbian or pan for realizing I'm demisexual.
No, you don't choose to be gay. It happens because of circumstances people go through when growing up. It is NOT genetic. If it were, The gene would be long gone, considering that gay people rarely reproduce.
Yes, there still is no definitive answer as to what makes people gay, however, most scientists think it has to do with estrogen/testosterone production while still in the womb. If too much estrogen/testosterone is produced for the fetus, it can affect the growth of the part of the brain that has to do with sexual development.
This kinda reminds me of something my friend told me. I don't know if it's true, but she said her child development teacher is trying to teach her class that there's not such thing as bisexuality.
"So when did you become a lesbian?"
"When the full moon came out, I was attacked by one of our kind. The transformation took about a day. I am now one of them. Run before I attack and turn you into one of them."
