it's easier to teach the alphabet if there is a certain order.

Have you seen the alphabet in alphabetical order though.. *mind blown*

For organizing things, as in alphabetical order. I work in a library and the thought of this not existing nearly gave me a heart attack.

It really upsets me that the letters in the word "alphabet" aren't in alphabetical order...
