Cats don't really need to be bathed, they clean themselves just fine. She deserved it.

Maybe if she'd been holding on with both hands he would not have been able to get his claws in. Also sometimes situations do arise in which it does become necessary to bathe a cat. Though usually its a better idea to do it in a tub and run water before you bring in the cat, so they aren't tipped off by the running water.
