she's a bit selfish though.. not letting other people read the books for Hermione Granger, then changing her mind...

What was this? I haven't heard about it

The Tales of Beedle the Bard. It only had 7 copies, and one of them went on auction for nearly £2 million because J.K. Rowling was too selfish to let her fans read it. However, a year later, she allowed it to be published and distributed. That's kinda selfish of her, yaknow?

Eh she released them in the end. I find it hard to believe she was just too selfish to not release them originally. There must have been some reason

It's cause seven is the most magical number and she probably thought it would be cool but then people wanted to read them so she made it more accessible...

stark, I know that, but when I heard the story back in 2008, she seemed a bit standoffish about it which is why she was selective of those she let have the copies.

Weird... Still, she donated a ton so she can't be that selfish

You my find it hard to believe that she was being selfish, but you didn't hear of this until I mentioned it, so you didn't know about it when it actually happened. Js... Cos I was someone who actually knew about it when it happened. I'm not really a fan of Rowling but I did read that book just after it was released. And it was quite good anyway so I don't see why she had to keep it to herself and her publishers

She is a good person by heart and that's what counts. To give so much is something truly special. These kind of people deserve to be a billionaire because they do good and kind things with it!

I like the books, but some of the pairings are just wrong. Can you tell me Hermione and Ron have anything in common other than Harry? Plus Harry/Ginny came out of nowhere.

Oh my god, she spent three full books building them up as a couple! They liked each other literally since puberty and it grew over time! I'm so sick of posts, comments, pics and fake article stories acting like there was nothing ever between Ron and Hermione and putting them together was some kind of massive error on J.K Rowlings part. Ron and Hermione were set up to be together in book four, and just took a few years to realise it themselves. Harry needed a girlfriend from somewhere else, he has zero romantic connection to Hermione, just leave the pairings alone!

Well, Gates donates to charity, too, so maybe she wasn't a proper billionaire to begin with.

Being a billionaire has nothing to do with mindset! It's whether you have a billion dollars or not!

Hahaha I can see I'm talking to an idiot. Listen bud, some people aren't meant to have money. Yes that statement is true. There are plenty of doctors orthodontists.. book writers too but they don't properly know how what to do with that money, so they live poor, or give it away. It's called financial literacy. Which this lady doesn't have. She saw herself with too much money and said I don't need that much money... hence some people aren't meant to have money. I can also write this in spanish, Italian and Portuguese. So yeah my English might have some errors. You ignorant cunt.

When you give that much yeah it is. When you do it strategically then no its not. That's where business and ethics collide. But hey I commend her for doing it.

I think she absolutely is meant to have that much money. Why should people just hoard all their billions of dollars when some people can't afford food every day? Or a roof over their head? I see this as a wonderful use of her money.
