Well... A basic rule for english and italian is that G before e or i is a soft g (dzh) ... But english likes to break the rule alot, ie- get, git

in the word 'scuba' the U stands for 'underwater' (pronounced UN-derwater), so do you pronounce it 'scUHba'? Also, the creator thing is a good argument. If you make something, YOU CAN NAME IT WHATEVER YOU WANT.

I think vowel-consonant rules come into play in your argument. It's how the letter U sounds next to different vowels.
