Okay yes this is nice and all but um imagine walking through the cemetery around evening or maybe at night and seeing two eyes not on or near a grave, but underneath it. I'm pretty sure your first response would not be "Aww so loyal".

The poor dog dug a hole in his deceased owner's grave so he could be with the owner

What freaks me out is how so many dogs seem to know where their owners are buried. I doubt they understand the concept of a grave, yet somehow they realize that their owner is in there. Like, can they smell them? Or is something supernatural going on?

I don't think it's supernatural, sorry. it's probably just their sense of smell.if the owner's relatives/friends bring the dog to the grave, it might be able to recognise the scent or even a photo, acknowledge the emotions coming from those around it- dogs can understand at LEAST the basics of human emotion- and then put it together. they may have even been brought to the funeral and watched the coffin be buried.
