No, amen, bro. I agree entirely. I especially hate it when people smoke RIGHT outside of restaurants and gas stations, etc! Pregnant women, asthma sufferers, etc have to walk through their second-hand smoke to enter the places. :/ Some people are either ignorant, lazy, or very inconsiderate. Perhaps all three. :(
Cancers always been around. It's more prominent today because we know more about it.
There are plenty of factors that can cause cancer as it's just a cell gone bad. Plenty of time it's just chance. People can get liver cancer without ever having drank. Skin cancer with hardly ever going outside. Cancers mostly a matter of chance.
And like the post said a few weeks ago, why would the people who make money off cancer's 95 billion a year want it to stop. I'm 80% sure they have a cure locked in the same vault as KFC's recipe...

I disagree but I find cigarette smoke annoying as well. I just look at prohibition and the war on drugs and see how they were and are absolute failures and a waste of government resources.
Also, outside the smoke can dissipate fairly quickly so it isn't as bad as being inside with it. Granted, it is annoying to have it right outside a door when I'm trying to go places, but I doubt I'll get second hand smoke from walking past someone smoking.
For the people agreeing to this post, the air we breathe polluted by all the factories are more likely to give you cancer, asthma, etc, than walking by someone who is smoking. Think bigger.
So a few people smoking outside causes cancer to the non smoker but factories pumping out hundreds of kilograms of carcinogens per second does not? And why should the smoker have to ask permission to smoke while these giant multi billion companies dump these chemicals in the air without any consequence? Your focusing on the wrong problem. Walking by someone who is smoking is not going to cause you cancer, breathing in general will. XD
Well, there are more smokers dying from lung cancer than non smokers. But that factory stuff is so much more cancer producing, right ?
We can't fight million dollar corporations but we can outlaw smoking, especially since it's also highly addictive and has no benefits.
Oh my. We totally could. As one person we are small. But enough of us willing to not allow them to take that kind of control, we are unstoppable.
Smoking out in the open will not cause cancer in non smokers seeing as the non smokers will not take in enough toxins for a long enough period of time from a brief encounter. But let's say we take this right away from smokers who contributed to a very, very small amount of carcinogens that people encounter on a daily basis. Then what? We sit satisfied while the real problem still looms in the darkness and secrecy?
We can go to space. They are about to put a colony on Mars. I'm sure they can figure out how to at least not release those toxins into the environment if they really wanted to. The only reason they aren't doing it already is cost. Do you want to breathe in that shit so that they can make more money?
You could spend your time speaking out against the real world problems that cause cancer like the shit the fda allows to be put in your food, cooking products, hair products, skin care products, etc, etc, without it actually being tested and making you their lab rats without your knowledge or consent [smoking is obviously cancerous but it's a choice and since smoking inside buildings are now illegal, second hand smoking is really no longer a viable argument and causes harm only to the user] oooooor you can spend your time speaking out against things that take away freedoms just because you don't like how it smells.
Its not that i dont like how it smells (which i dont, but thats not a viable argument), its that if enough people smoke, you will be second hand smoking. Also, if you are really worried about the fda, then just look up stuff before you use it (something you forgot to do before posting that unintelligent comment)
If your worried about cancer from taking in a whiff of cigarette smoke maybe YOU should worry about all the stuff your consuming on a daily basis rather than something you encounter every once in awhile. Which really makes you narrow minded. Ist like your saying "I shall eat and sm3ar
Fat soluable pesticides for one. And if you dont know what that means, it means that you cant wash it off with water. Have you seen how the people who spray these pesticides on our food are wearing full blown hazmat suits and what we're supposed to eat the food that has been coated with that? And you can't even wash it off. Sweetie if you don't know how to look these things up youself or haven't bothered to be aware.. well. Darwinism will have its way with you.
Guest, look at how many people eat/use all the stuff will all that shit the fda put in it our stuff that are dying. Then look how many people are dying by smoking.
You can buy the organic and all natural stuff if you think it's a lot safer, that's going into your body. But smoking goes into other people's bodies, and they also have to deal with the nasty precense smokers bring.
Oh and BTW any food that you consume is sprayed with this stuff whether if it's from a box or not, seeing as they all start in a field somewhere. So there is your list. However if you need more several food colorings (that had been previously approved by the fda) were found out to be cancerous and removed from the market hence the lab rat without knowledge or consent statement. There are sooooo many products that have been approved yet untested. So who knows what kinds of cancers the future holds
Either way I would say that these matters are more worthy of your time than a few people who are no longer allowed to smoke in closed spaces and are smoking out in an open air where u are more likely take in more carcinogens from those factories pumping out hundreds of kilograms of carcinogens per second that you cant smell.
Fairytale while what your saying is true a lot of the ways that we as a nation began to produce foods have changed drastically. Also as I have mentioned the fda approves hundreds of chemicals each year without proof of safety. And as I have mentioned again Noone is allowed to smoke inside of a building anymore with which I completely agree. However being outside and smoking will not cause any harm to people who are close enough to smell the smoke. It dissipates far to quickly to do so.
Ugh I give up. Consume yourselves with the smallest of matters and refuse to see how our once great nation is being bought out from underneath us. Be distracted by the shiny little problems multi billion companies dangle in front of us for the purposes of making money. Refuse to believe that this fda the people trust so dearly has no teeth against the millions of dollars being thrown at the lobbyists who convince our congressmen that they will be supported in their campaigns and their ambitions if they would just help them pass a specific law. Our generation is going to watch our middle class disappear. Forget your dreams of the white picket fence, slums and ghettos will be our future. And the worst part will be that it will be our fault for refusing to care.
Wow you got to this conclusion because you think smoking in public is ok to people passing by "because food is worse!!". We make a choice to eat the food, it won't hurt others like smoking hurts others. It doesn't matter how many facts you write because that doesn't change
Exactly, the point is that you choose to harm yourself by smoking/eating bad foods. Only smoking hurts others who have made a desicion to not kill themselves by taking in harmful chemicals
Let's talk about powerplants and refineries, about cars and trucks, BEFORE talking about how cigarette smokers pollute and give other people cancer, please.

Just gonna throw this out there... smoking areas are there for a reason. Any place I have worked has a smoking area at least 100 feet from the entrance. Even as a (former) smoker, I feel it is a dick move to smoke outside the entrance. I have always tried to be a considerate smoker and avoid nonsmokers while I was smoking, even making sure not to blow my smoke at other smokers, it's just rude. Of course, now I vape but I still make sure my cloud is blown away from others.
100% agree. It's horrible having to breathe in all those disgusting chemicals from another person's cigarette especially when you have to walk right behind someone who is smoking on a busy street
Public intoxication is illegal, so you can drink just don't get drunk.
And you're taking it a bit too far. Too many people smoke, plenty starting before the age of 18. It harms your body so much more than drinking and cars. You smell, you're unpleasant to be around, you get frequent work breaks because of something you chose to start, and the list goes on.
Smoking is a choice. Those who smoke know the risks and yeah I agree they shouldn't do it in public buildings or rigt outside of entrances but to completely eliminate it is crazy. You see someone smoking don't go by them. If by public you mean buildings or next to entrances or exits then fine. But if you mean sidewalks, parking lots, then that's too far. We have freedom of choice and you can choose to walk ahead of the smoker, other side of the street ect.
Let's make eating peanut butter in public illegal since it kills people all the time. A little exaggerated but the point is where the hell is my freedom to do what I want? If tobacco is legal why should I be restricted? I'm not blowing it in every persons face I see. Let's make cars illegal to drive in public since car emissions are hurting the earth.
Note that he said PUBLIC smoking. You're free to smoke at home or somewhere private. There's your freedom. You're welcome to kill yourself slowly in your own privacy. Others enjoy their lungs and quality of life.
Peanut butter allergy is far different from smoking. Yes, you can get a reaction if someone has touched peanut butter and they touch you, but when people smoke it goes around.
The car thing makes sense, but we're too reliant on gas that it makes it near impossible to switch to a greener energy, where as quitting smoking is a one person thing.
r u freakin' kidding me i got asthma coz my dad smokes and i was always aroung him u make me sick and i think that mybe u should smoke and get off of funsubstance

Guest has NO idea how asthma works, do they ?
I actually like the smell of cigarettes... They remind me of my grandmother, who smoked...
