Breastfeeding shouldn't be covered. Its the sole purpose of breasts. Its the only reason we even have breasts and aren't flat like men. Breastfeeding should be accepted and almost celebrated for the fact you can feed your baby with your own body. Plus its illegal in a lot of places to discriminate against breastfeeding women. Of you're uncomfortable or don't like seeing breastfeeding, you're either making it sexual or you don't understand the human body. Rant over.
Well I think they sould cover them, breasts are still private parts, it is contradictory to cover them and get angry when men look at them but it's okay to breastfeed publicly! They are the same breasts are breasts whether you are breastfeeding or not.
Note: I support breastfeending and I encourage women to do it and stay away from artificial milk. But do it in a good way.
They're only private because we make them that way. In Europe they're completely exposed in most places with no thought about it. Its not like she's topless and rubbing her nipples, that would be different. But I do understand what you're saying.
What I'm trying to say, breastfeed any where you want it is your right but at least put a veil on your breasts, you know the men and women think in a different way and the world around you is not perfect, there are perverts who only see boobs not a woman trying to feed here child. They'll keep staring at you in an inappropriate way. And you said it they are sexualized, whether this is right or wrong.
Yeah but in other parts of the world, you can breastfeed and men dont even look. You're right, they are sexualized, but its not right. Its the human body, there is no reason to cover it.
Once my family and I were in Ireland and my little siblings were in a music shop and one of the record covers had a naked woman on the front and my siblings were like "ew!" (they were like six and eight) and some kid about their age came up and said "there's nothing weird or gross about it. Its the human body" and its true. Were American by birth and they hadn't seen anything like that before in public. We all have the same parts (relatively) so just because its sexual or "gross" doesn't mean its right.
I'm not American nor European, it's my own opinion, and I agree with you no mother should be ashamed of breastfeeding, but I disagree when you said there is nothing wrong for people to show their naked body. Let's be honest the human's private are sexualized ages ago and it is our human nature to feel that way when seeing them. So it is inappropriate to just show them around in public places.

Try to cover a hungry baby with a shawl, I dare you. They hate it, fuss, pull it away, and won't latch. They can also overheat and breathe in their own CO2 and make them feel ill. The babies needs come before other peoples' comfort
My kid was fine being covered while breastfeeding. All the moms I've seen also didn't look like they had problems with it. If it's a consistent thing, they'll associate it with eating and calm down when they get covered because they know food is coming.
