*also Irish myself* They were treated almost as badly. They weren't slaves or segregated, but it was probably the next to the bottom of the social food chain.
There were white slaves tho, just FYI
They were called " indentured servants " and their only pay was passage to America and they worked until they paid it off but by then they had no where else to go
I read about the white (Irish) slaves. They were apparently cheaper than the black slaves too.
Before anybody comments negatively I'm actually mixed race and descend from both Irish and black
Yeah, in many cases the Irish were treated as lower than the blacks. More often than not the Irish were sold off cheaper. And when we left by choice even then there was very little choice, people often left because things such as penal laws stopped them from doing anything in Ireland (it also prohibited a lot of stuff overseas but what can they do when you're on the other side of the Atlantic?) and then we left in droves during the Famine
The first instance of clowns come from the Egyptian 5th dynasty around 2400BC though and the modern clown image was created by the Italian Joseph Grimaldi in the 1800s. It's like people who post this rubbish don't realize we've got access to the greatest information resource in the history of human civilization or something!
You may call it "rubbish" but there is that influence within it. At these points in time the English had a rather strong dislike to us, and why would they not use an opportunity like this to belittle us as a race? Although some of the origins may originate in Italy I can guarantee there would have been some racial influence in the design of the clown that was played in England and such, which would have carried on to the modern clown
Weren't they also treated as poorly as the black people were back then ?
I mean, there is still hate against the Irish.
