sorry to be a music nerd. ( I'm a musicology major). Mozart was actually not very popular in his day. People felt his music didn't make sense because he added dissonance and chords that were waaaayyy before his time. When he was younger people like him because he was a prodigy. Later on he was just crazy to people because he was such a genius people didn't understand his music.
