It was a plot hole, true, and some negligent writing. (There were several unresolved details in the movie.) But, honestly... I was too busy being captivated by the dinosaur-packed epicness to care much for household drama. I mean, for goodness sake... Raptor squad! :D :D Jurassic World is not groundbreaking in quality, but it was a decent effort and certainly reignited the spark in the Jurassic Park series.

I think it was absolutely pointless to bring up. We didn't see any signs of trouble or conflict between the parents and it had no impact on the characters whatsoever. The younger brother cries about it for a few seconds (really annoying, btw!) and then that's it.

I agree - it was fairly pointless, considering that the divorce never saw a direct solution nor even a later acknowledgement. However, in a sense, it was resolved towards the end of the film, where the parents reunite as a family with their boys. The divorce scene gives more emotional weight to the ending, even if it is pointless. *shrugs* Hey, the movie is flawed. I admit that. But it was still good.
True. It's been overused though.
> Family has conflict.
> Tragic event.
> Conflict gone, family happy.
I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, it's just been used too much in movies that it's simply predictable by now. I bet most people knew that when the boys survive the Jurassic World chaos, the parents weren't going to divorce anymore. Something similar happened in Jurassic Park 3, if I'm not mistaken.

Living in a world that has been globalized - internet, telecommunications, and so on - allowing people to share their literature and art on an unprecedented scale... Clichés, such as the one you mentioned (conflicted family-tragedy-happy), are becoming harder and harder to avoid. I think the key no longer lies in not using them, but in using them well and creatively. Jurassic World didn't do well, but it had its redeeming qualities. CoughRAPTORSQUADCough.
i think they skipped the explanation BECAUSE its such a trope that we already knew how it would shake out the second the boys started talking about the divorce...
You can likely conclude that they decided to stay together due to the conflict at the park and the endangerment of their children.
Then a year later the husband leaves the wife for the blue velociraptor.....:V
