Union. At least at my old job that was the answer. I was literally told that it would take an act of God to fire someone. (Even when they were drunk at work and slept at their desk...)

Doesn't sound very appealing, but I guess it's better than nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It wasn't appealing. Good money but it was a soul crushing place. My blood pressure dropped by 20 points when I quit.

What kind of paper work did you have to fill out?

I wasn't filing out paperwork but processing police reports. Reading and coding them according to what crime took place, entering data into the computer. Other miscellaneous stuff. Sometimes boring, sometimes interesting, sometimes so heartbreaking I'd just sit and cry for a few minutes. It made me so cynical...

Usually the more incompetent someone is the higher they will fail upwards. As in they are promoted to a position that affects the front line less so everyone else can do their job properly.
