Yeah. Noobs sholudn't be firing a shotgun. You face the target square and firmly(Oh did I mention firmly?) grip the stock with your trigger hand. This aint a rifle son. It's designed to blow the hell out of anything and everything within range to pieces.

Probably dislocated his shoulder. This is not how you hold a gun even I know that and I'm 16 I've been taught better than that.
