I have never worked in a customer service job my whole life but I can feel your pain oozing off this post

I have worked in food service for 3 months so far... And at the second place I worked, we closed at 9. We would start our checklist for closing at 8. Halfway down was clean the grill, so I'd do that at around 8:30-8:45. I FUCKING LOATHED the people that came in at 8:50 wanting 4 giant (they were actually called giant, 15 inches of bread) hot subs, cause it meant that I had to do the most tedious task again for one fucking dude.
Yeah but when it comes down to it, you are still open and it´s their right to ask for food at the time.
I mean, it is a little inconsiderate of them, but it is your job to serve until the closing time.

It's not about technicalities, it's about common courtesy and being a decent person. I know that these people can get food elsewhere. Or get something that doesn't require me cleaning the entire grill again..
i feel like if you are serving fast food like subs you are open and serving till the minute you close and its insane to clean the grills and stuff before you are closed. its one thing at a sit down restaurant, but i certainly never did the final cleaning of a food prep area when i worked in pizza until we closed, that would be stupid.

We closed at 9, I was scheduled until 9:30... It took an hour and a half to do the checklist and you had to do each thing in order. Also, I don't decide any of what I just said. So yeah that's what you do. Ever worked at a restaurant?
yeah, i specifically referenced working in a restaurant, and we closed when we closed and cleaned till it was done and then clocked out. if you are done at a certain time and not paid after that is a fault of the employer not the customer, also illegal if you are expected to work till its done without pay. that is 100% shady employer you are complaining about the wrong end of the stick here. again, theres a difference between sit down and fast food, most sit downs stop serving food at a time before the actual closing and i 100% agree with that, but any place that makes food in under 15 minutes is open till closing to serve and to be mad at customers for showing up with in your open time is silly.
Yes it isbstill open and you have yo do it but c'mon! Don't be an ass. And if I have to because for aome reason i really want something and couldn't get tjere earlier I hurry up and leave extra tip for the trouble of making you stay longer
And yes goes both ways I hated when some coworkers cleaned the grill first like an hr or 30 mins before. But you do see people getting in 5 mins before and being a-holes about it
I use to work at Dairy Queen. We closed at 10. On night someone came in the drive-thru and ordered 4 six pieces 2 four pieces 5 double cheese burgers and ice cream. It was 9:50
I picked up my 19-year-old daughter at the airport once when she was like eight hours late. She was delayed once in Europe and once in NY, and was starving. We went to the first chain restaurant outside the airport zone, and it would have been like 15 minutes before closing. We asked if it would be OK to dine in, and were told "yes." My daughter had a lot of stories to tell about her European trip, despie being tired, and we were there at least 15 minutes past close. We didn't dawdle, but we didn't scarf down our food either. I left a nice tip, and feel like I gave the staff a chance to say they were just closing. We didn'\t purposely come in late, but the time was driven by the late flight arrival.
I feel ya'after working in retail in high school, but it's not always malicious.
