She's a great character but she's a support character, she doesn't need a movie because there isn't enough of her character present to stand alone, she's an assassin as a mercenary, entirely buisness, she has a past she regrets on a basic human level, and has a moderate card for people as a human being but ultimatly she really only cares for who is paying her the most (this is the more comic based side of her personality, not the one shown in the movies) and I'm gonna spoil something. So here is your spoiler alert. Spoiler alert.
I know everyone was flipping that the clintasha romance didn't take off but I was pretty ok with them being the best of friends, and I really liked that they brought in the character of Laura Barton, and expanded on hawkeye making him more than just the guy with a bow. But what's interesting is that Laura Barton and the Barton children have only ever appeared once in the comics. And they don't stay long, brutally murdered by a squadron led by the assassin
Black widow. Now I know this doesn't say much about her in the mcu, but the inclusions makes me feel like the character of morals us as the fan base are building her up to be, will only be toppled down later, as she ultimatly turns on the team for her own personal gain. This is my cannon but I feel like most marvel fans are not looking into their source materials and relying only on what they see in front of them. And that just frustrates me, because everything I've said right now is a Wikipedia page away
People who don't read comics: "we want a black widow movie"
*black widow movie gets made*
*movie flops because BW's character doesn't have a substantial storyline or isn't interesting enough to validate a solo movie.*
People "omg that movie sucked, why's marvel making her their token female character just for popularity "
