Frog was probably thinking that he was at the buffet

ehhh its just protecting its web from further damage. the natural choice is to survive, if it felt it would fare better killing it and leaving it to rot it would, had it more ability for forethought it may have done that since that would attract more bugs, but its just protecting its web.

I was thinking more along the line of a poisonous frog maybe?
