I love this because it shows why Greek is still spoken today and not Latin. The Roman Empire was split in half for better management and both sides had different rulers. They were of course still part of the Roman Empire. The Roman side that spoke Latin was forced back by the Germanic barbarians and the English (the blue side) but the Greek side where the majority spoke Greek remained strong and didn't fall (the green side). And that is why I Latin is now a dead language and Greek is not.
