The above post has "nigger" as an offensive word. Yet it's not hypocritical of black people to say it? Like Coach Carter said, it's a derogatory term and saying it gives "white people" the impression that it's cool to say it. And then the whites are accused of racism. Double standards much?

Just why would you as a white person even want to say it? Just go on about your business and don't worry about it. It says a lot about you when biggest thing you have to worry about as a race is not being able to say a word that your people have used to oppress an entire other race. Y'all have abused and lost your n word privileges, let's put it that way. Its amazing that a person could even argue such a stance.

either something is a bad word or its not, saying its a bad word for one group and not for another is only a small part of a large spectrum of inconsistencies that will perpetuate racism. plus you'll find different types of people use the word regularly than the types who don't, and outside of getting some big break in the media world, one type is far more likely to go places than the other.

Its very simple at the end of the day. Don't say it. End of story. Like people tell blacks about slavery, which is the whole reason you can't say it: Get over it. Its a bad word for white people because it reflects the damage your ancestors have started the the damage y'all continue towards black people whether you know and aknowlege it or not. Now when black people take the word back and make it 'cool', y'all feel left out and do what y'all have always been doing to other people's culture: steal it. Also, stop your bullshitting and say what you mean and stop with this tip toeing "certain types of people" shit. I already know what kind of person you are, theres no need to hide. The fact that this is even a topic of controversy shows what state race relations are in. Give me one good reason white people should be allowed to say the n word.

i was actually advocating no one say the damn word, but thats just me. and i'm not tip toeing, i simply did not feel like dedicating an essay to describing my opinions of the men i have known who use the word liberally vs the ones who rarely say it. this whole notion of treating races as an entity who get privileges based on the history of their ancestors is half the problem, because people try to do that shit both ways, you cannot have it both ways. this notion of stealing culture is also ridiculous, saying one people get to be one way and no one can do anything they do that pleases them or its stealing is further creating harmful barriers.

I'm white and none of my American ancestors have owned slaves. Can I say it then or is that still wrong because "I'm stealing your culture?" Wait, didnt yall black people "steal" it from the white man's slave culture in the first place?
