The reason is because most cameras have a wide angle lense causing it to appear smaller

Phone cameras use zoom lenses, and are set by default to their farthest zoom out, so that it's easier to zoom in, unfortunately phone cameras are not good enough to zoom in proper without causing noise in the photo
