Agreed. It was annoying when I'd go over to a friends house, and they'd cook ravioli with tomato sauce and their parents would be like "Isn't this like what you 'Italy-People' eat?"

Food is like language it is used and changed by the user. It doesn't make it less because it is not exactly what you would be served by someone's grandmother from that country. It's why Italians serve gelato with Chinese food... calm yourself.

uhh the left side is i-talian. i grew up in a place riddled with Italians and i can attest to this. thank god because my BELLY SURE KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GREATNESS AND SHIT. i pity the simpletons whove never had authentic tiramisu fodjxgwuebxjxjx

All ethnic foods are like that around the world. I moved from New Zealand to USA. Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Japanese.. All very different, between the two countries, and typically neither is close to the real thing.
