yepp it is true 747 can carry a spaceshuttle AFTER modification and there is also the tiny fact that when that 747 carries the shuttle no passengers are on board

Also, overweight luggage fees are because the more a plane weighs, the more fuel it needs for the same flight.

The fees could probable be bcuz of the extra work and time it takes for personell to ship it through the airport etc.
