as often as i need the employee who is busy with the other 5 machines i have mostly stopped using the self chekouts cuz standing in line is faster than waiting for some guy to convince the machine that my pack of gum is not supposed to weigh 5 lbs.

Maybe it depends on the store. My grocery store's machine work great and rarely need any help unless it's for coupons.

oh it surely depends on the store, the quality of the machine, the quality of the data input, the quality of the maintenance, the quality of the people doing simple upkeep. then simple complications like who needs to be ID'd and shit slow it down even more.

The grocery store I work out doesn't! Although it's a petty old store with slow customer flow...haha

We're there to help at the self checkouts because the majority of the people that go to use them don't know what the hell they're doing.

and then have the nerve to tell grocery store clerks that their job is "child's play" and "not a real job".
