I was molested by Nintendo, Super NES, and Genesis cartidges. I will never forget those days. Sometimes they made me shove a Q-tip soaked with rubbing alcohol inside of them. It was horrible. I never thought it'd stop.

Blowing on the cartridges never actually did anything, it was all because of re-seating the contacts. In fact, Nintendo actually tried to tell people that blowing in the cartridge was actually potentially harmful due to the introduction of moisture from your breath.

Well that's why you pursed your lips and blew into it. Not mouth wide open like you were fogging up some sunglasses lenses to clean them. And the Q-tip worked very well, got the "dirt" off of the contacts and the rubbing alcohol would evaporate very quickly with a few quick 'flaps' of the cartridge.
