That really can't be true. Satanism is the practice of worshipping the devil as your god, Atheism is not believing in any god or gods. Since Satan is still considered a god in Satanism how does that work?

the church of FSM is another common "religion" for atheists to use to make a point, just unlike satanism its *all* athiests and not a mix of people who believe in other varying degrees of things. http://www.venganza.org/ if you google for satanism definitions most sites (outside of fear mongering sites belonging to churches) will clearly break down the types of satanism, with a large segment of the satanists actually being atheists. most of the people trying to get satanic statues in public places are doing so to make a point, pretending to worship satan to demonstrate why the christian symbols have no place in gov't by juxtaposing satan symbols into the same place in the name of freedom of religion.
