Nah, you get rap that has an actual message, it's just the mainstream stuff that is about drugs and women. If you search a little deeper into rap and get into underground stuff you can find some really moving and ethic driven stuff. The only reason many people think the older stuff was about more than money, drugs etc. is because the likes of 2Pac released songs like 'Brenda's got a baby' and 'changes'
Yeah to me it seems less rap has been about women, money, and drugs than before. Only a couple that actually rap about that are really popular in mainstream/media music which is why the whole rap community gets put down.
You obviously only listen to the radio.
J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Foreign Exchange and countless other great rap artists have released projects that deal with more than SMD. This post shows how lame your music experience is and how out of touch you are with real hip hop. Support the underground. And btw....Run the Jewels
to the people that say that rap is only about women, money, and drugs,, have you ever listened to much rap music, or just repeating what your hearing other people, who never listen to it also, say?
