In south Africa we get around 14 weeks of holiday a year, not counting public holidays

So how many days of school total do you all have? I have 180, but from what you guys are saying that seems really small. I'm still in high school so I'm assuming that's the kind of school you are talking about.

48 weeks, minus the two days off for each weekend makes 240. There are a few holidays in there that we get off, so probably around 235 days.

And then in South Africa once you get to varsity you get summer vacation from mid November to Feb, and any public holidays as well as a month mid year and 2 weeks per semester...

In America it depends on what school you go to. Some go the full year while public schools have a two-month break, not a three-month break. Also, this started up when farmers needed their kids to help tend to the crops during the summer. A lot of people are trying to change it to full year instead of having two months because the two months aren't necessary anymore.
