It's actually ridiculous to have all registers open all the time, it's not always busy enough. During the holidays absolutely have them all open but otherwise it's up to management to know and schedule enough cashiers during peak hours.
Walmart math says it's ridiculous to have more than 1 register per 127 customers waiting in line. One would think there'd be a happy medium here? And no, it is not up to the managers to schedule cashiers at Walmart. Scheduling is done at corporate.
When I was a member of management at Walmart several years ago the stores had little or no say. If someone has wised up and changed it back to the way things used to be, I'm going to be even more pissed than usual next time I have to go to that hell hole.
It was a fuster cluck when I worked there, and from what I've seen in the many different stores I have been in in my travels, nothing has changed. One or two poorly run stores could be explained away, but when every store is run more or less the same, it is a corporate culture problem.
Yeah. You ever notice when the lines get 100 feet long or so, they get on the pa and call for "all register trained to the front" but no one ever comes?
