Probably because not all "dis" words are opposites of what they sound like. Disappointed isn't the opposite of appointed, for instance. Or dismiss and miss. Stuff like that can make English rather difficult to fathom.

I just realized that "uncouth" is, in fact, the opposite of "couth".
