A lot of the time doctors won't/can't allow anything that can't be sterilized into the operating room. My guess would be that the parents just didn't think it would go over with the surgeon.

hey snuggle I'm going out on limb here and saying that if this were to happen they would take the wolf outside the operating theatre patch it up and all and bring it in after the surgery because I'm guessing he's under general anaesthetic

I agree with Lenny, they wouldn't bring the wolf into the operating room since there isn't any reason to. The real reason (probably) as to why the parents said no, is that they didn't want to trouble the doctors since they're often very busy. They just didn't want to bother the doctors.

When I would have surgery I'd wake up with my stuffed wolf in my arms and he'd have an ID bracelet just like mine with his name on it and everything. It always made me smile.
