As an Irishman (who funnily enough was not proposed to) I approve this post

My friend this did on Monday. I was there to witness it, we travelled all the way to Grimbsy by taxi.

According to the fact we're in the 21st century, women can propose to men any fucking day of the year.

I didn't even know they weren't supposed to. It's little things like that that make me happy to live in Europe.

On any day of the year, certain users of fun substance can be butthurt about archaic traditions that no one practices anymore.

Certain disappointments are part of gender equality. But you totally scored coolness points for doing it.

Finding a guy who isn't turned off by a proactive attitude will be worth the efforts and time, cause being loved for being yourself is the greatest thing. Trust me, once you experienced this, you won't settle for anything less, and you won't even feel lonely when you're alone. Don't give a fuck about boys who don't know what they're missing.

An old Scottish law, right? But she can only propose if she's wearing a red petticoat, to kind of "warn" her man. And if he says no, he's got to buy her either a silk gown, or a dozen pairs of gloves, so she isn't as sad at being turned down, or can hide her ringless finger from the world while she hides her shame.

Why aren't women allowed to propose anyways?
