Using an uber instead of a licensed tax is pretty much a jerk move to start with.

Uber has all required permits. It's less expensive, more convenient, and there's a support team should anything go wrong with your trip to adjust the fare. You get to rate the driver, any driver with less than a 4.6 average is deactivated. They're encouraged to give good service. Taxis are disgusting, I always get horrible service, and they smell weird. Not to mention you have to do a 12-point background check to drive for Uber.
