When we had to put my cat down the vet gave us a small clay disc that had her paw prints in it and her name in it. I cried for an hour when she came over and delivered it.

Aw! The vet did the same for us when my dog passed. It was a very emotional day for myself and my family.

Is that your dogs footprint? Ew! He had to dip a dead dogs foot in ink

How very sensitive of you. I like to think of this as a physical reminder of all the memories they had with their dog, and something to remember him/her by. As someone who has lost two cats, one of which had to be put down, I'd have absolutely treasured something like this, I think it's compassionate and rather beautiful.

I guess there's two kinds of people. You say, oh how nice. I instantly think, what if the paw print imprints the dog ghost to you. That's too spooky for me

But then it can be your companion still. Not all ghosts are malevolent, and I think a dog ghost would be friendly if it was with its kind master

When my dad died, one of the things the funeral home offered was a necklace with his thumbprint. It's one of my favorite things.

We got our dog's paw print made into a clay thing after she died..that's one of the few things I still have to hold onto the best dog I've ever had.

I wish I would have been able to do something like that for my first dog. She was hit by a car and we had to throw her away in the garbage

My dog died in her sleep. She was old and sick. We gave her a funeral in the backyard with our other pets. I would've loved to have something like this to remember Luna with.
