Who invited Truth and Talent? Did they even register to run the race?

This sounds like it could be made up.. But isn't everything.

I'd be interested to know where the full moral came from. It rhymes nicely... in English. But Aesop - to whom we attribute the fable of the Hare and the Tortoise - was Greek.
