I'm not sure I see how. Car manufacturers aren't sued when someone causes a wreck in their vehicle, intentional or not, nor is any other manufacturer. This is because the product itself isn't responsible for someone's actions, and its the action that is and should be punished. Unless I'm misinterpreting your statement, which I don't believe I am.
Well there are shades of grey. Their are attempts to hold different industries accountable for different levels of user error. Guns are not the only one. To a certain extent we do dump on the computer industry for things people do. Why aren't things more secure... then with iPhones, why aren't things less secure... all things are not equal.
Okay I'm going to defend someone I really don't want to:
When she says this she (hopefully) is referring to gun sellers knowingly selling guns to mentally ill or those with a criminal record. With her almost bi-polar view on gun laws that seem to change from day to day, I don't truly know what she's talking about.
Then the fault lies on the distributors, not the manufacturers. So Colt shouldn't get the shaft because some asshole shot up a place, but Joe Schmoe's Guns down the street who sold to the guy without a NICS check, proof of ID, anything? His ass is grass.
She said "industry" and ill give her the benefit of the doubt she meant distributors because that's what she's said in the past

I typically think of "The Industry" as being the producers of something, though I do understand where you're coming from on your confusion. She has supported families that have attempted to sue manufacturers such as Remington, and that's why I think she's talking about the manufacturers when she says "Industry."
