But, he was, wasn't he? Wasn't he a hardcore surgeon, but he lost the use of his hands in a car accident, and so, to find a cure, he went all the way into the mountains of Tibet, where he met the Sorcerer Supreme, and went on a journey of self-discover/hardcore Tibetan monk style training.

Yeah but a surgeon doesn't necessarily have the same skill set as a PCP, ie, diagnosis of "rashes" on sight.
