question, is he a royal member. if not then logically he should be thin. the fantasy show isn't a good defence because even in a fantasy world you still lose weight from being malnourished.

He's from a well to do family. Is now a part of the Nights Watch where there is plenty of food.

But later on even in the book the "character" loses weight because he travels, builds, and lack of food.
