god I HATE all of these anti-school posts. jesus you don't need to go all rebel whenever you fail your fuckin history class. school is designed to make you a kind of jack of all trades to prepare you for your future possible careers, and it doesn' tjust teach you like school knowledge, but also life skills.

most anti schools post are actually from the people who graduated with a 4.0. the people who go thrue all the effort to get good grades and stay up till 2 in the morning to study are usually the one that are the most upset when at the end of there schooling they feel like they have wasted the last 12 years fafung about learning useless crap. while still not knowing how to file taxes or fill out a resume. the only "life skills" that people learned in the school i whent to was to avoid trouble and that playing football makes you an untouchable god to the staff.

"most anti schools post are actually from the people who graduated with a 4.0" nice statistic that you just pulled out of your damn ass. you do realize that, to learn taxes, you could A) USE FUCKING GOOGLE or B) ASK YOUR FUCKING PARENTS. also idk what highschool movie you live in, but football players get no special treatment where I live. also, if you think the shit you learned at school is useless, then your major is probably something like liberal arts or gender studies. essentially, you're a waste of money and life.

There is difference between smart and book smart a good amount of anti education system posts are probably the people with great grades but don't have the social skills to get a job. Or the ones who realized if you're looking for a job doing what you love, you can usually teach yourself

Idk where you guys are getting these 'most posters of this stuff are [blank]' cuz there's not proof of who the posters are. I'm guessing they are usually seventh graders who failed their history exam because they played too much Minecraft or some shit, but I'm not saying that they are cuz I have no evidence.

Undercover, you're literally so ignorant. Not all people learn the same way, not all people test the same way. Just because some people excel at school doesn't mean everyone does. Some people can be geniuses, but they won't know because they don't learn by lectures.

When did I say everyone learns the same way? I'm just saying that people should stop bitching about the education system.

"school is designed to make you a kind of jack of all trades to prepare you for your future possible careers" a jack of all trades being? I'm sure teachers don't take their time to teach each individual person according to their needs if they're teaching you to be a jack of all trades. That'd take way too much time from them. School is designed to see how well you test based on their system. Not to see how well your knowledge can actually grow.

Jack of all trades as in you know a little bit of fundamental knowledge on every subject. That way, if you want to be a historian, you already have some basic knowledge of history, so you can feasibly become a historian in the future. If you want to be a mathematician, you know fundamental math, so you can hone that knowledge in college and get a degree in math. The other thing school teaches is social skill: how to interact with peers and superiors, and responsibility: doing homework and group projects on time. If school ONLY taught marine biology from kindergarten to highschool, people who wanted to be marine biologists would be VERY well prepared, but everyone else would be unable to pursue the major they wanted.

That's why school teaches a broad range of subjects for everyone to benefit a little from, rather than wasting resources to tailor everything to your specific needs, that's where college comes into play.

We aren't talking about what they teach. We're talking about HOW they teach.

Undercover is right about all this. Highschool for the most part does its job. But there are a few examples where school can turn out to be less good than bad for people and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that the posters of these kind of posts are some of those examples

They teach in a manner that works with the AVERAGE student. Some kids call through the cracks unfortunately. They can always get homeschooled or enrolled in a special program, but normal public school is geared towards the average Joe. And hey, you might get into a bad college because your school wasn't too compatible with you, but even in college you have a second chance, where you can transfer out to another school after you finish your GEs.

Its more like we treat people with learning disabilities like they are broken. My sister who is rubbish at tests is now an excellent doctor. Or I know someone who is an engineer who has dyslexia. It's all about teaching people to cope with their weaknesses.
