My dad always told me 'dayk heez/sâg bab' and 'goo bxo' as a child which in kurdish means 'son of a bitch' and 'go eat shit'.

Yeah, I still get them too. Damn, guys, I know swearing isn't always that serious I get it, even between family there are times that it is funny or even friendly but, insulting your child is the worst. Even more when you get called that for meaningless things.

So what they don't mean it. I know first hand. (Obviously there are abusive parents but im pretty sure these aren't examples of some)

I specified, yeah, there are times when they are only messing around or something, and you can tell. But in my experience getting called that is definately meant to make you feel bad you for anything. Like spilling your drink, getting up 10 minutes late, doing anything wrong when you're just tying to help, etc. It's not even considered abusive around here, it's extremely common.

The ball-balls really hurt! I'm not black but my hair was really curly so had them to hold my hair. If you let go of one end, not only would it hit your head but also your fingers/thumb.

I never understood how those worked. Did you just wrap them around or something?

Yeah. You hold one side with a ball with your hair and the other side gets wrapped around. Then you put that ball you used to wrap inside (through the gap) of the ball you were holding.

Truuuust! I had my dad doing it every morning when I was about 4 or 5. Imagine an old man with very little patience, big rough hands brushing (which your not meant to!) my wild curly hair then pulling the life out of it trying to tie it in those things. I had to teach myself how to tie my hair so I wouldn't cry my eyes out every time..

Really? I have really curly hair and my father always brushed my hair, it didn't hurt at all but it took likemore than half an hour sometimes. My mother was the one who pulled the life out of them.

its not growing up black. I used the pony tail balls because my hair is as thick as a horses mane and those were the only things that didn't tear up my hair . Wished i could get them back.
