I've seen enough gators on land to see that something is a bit off though. Not dismissing your fact at all bit it's still a bit off, but that's just my opinion which may be totally wrong.
That is normal for an alligator. They never stop growing because there is nothing to prevent it from not growing. Similar to beaks on birds and horns on goats/pigs, if they don't keep their beaks/horns in check things will get out of hand.
Also, watch the video and tell me thats normal. While yes, gators continue to grow, this one is huge. As are the cojones of the two men videoing. "Get in next to it for perspective"
I meant boars/hogs teeth or tusks and some pigs do too depending on breed. If you ever seen a bird cage you probably would notice a stone(I have no clue what it is made of but not harmful) wheel or something round in the cage. This is for the bird to naw on or rub/scratch against. And it is normal alligators have no predator (except humans) to stop it from not growing to its max.
What you're thinking of in a birdcage is a salt wheel. Not made of stone it's made of salt. Yes wild pigs and boars have tusk but none have horns, I'm just being hard headed not trying to actual argue or fight :P
As the owner of a 20 year old bird, her beak does not grow continually, it grew at the same rate as the rest of her. Though I believe certain members of the parrots family might have to use cuddlebones on their beaks to to trim them since they have a different type of beak.
I'm so happy they aren't killing him. I hope they never will. Such a gorgeous animal and definitely a dinosaur.i live in FL and hope to see him one day
