Honestly, I don't like the series, but his first film was solid.

It shows in the films. They're pretty good, but they certainly aren't Star Trek. There is a reason I said that J.J. Abrams would be perfect for Episode 7. It's because he made two good Star Wars movies with the Star Trek films.
