That's adorable! I'm not an expert so correct me if I'm wrong please.. A lot of animals (if not all) can be raised from birth to be friendly and as long as they meet their dietary needs and everything, be a great part of a family. I'm an animal lover so I would really like to believe that!

Its not actually that simple. Larger predators are far more dangerous than just having a killer instinct. Even their play instincts can be fatal to us fragile humans.

On a different note, I've read that one of the best animals as a family pet and guard animal (when domesticated) is the Tanzanian devil.

They're also like vulture(the proper term would be scavengers I think)so you can basically feed them anything. I think they like bones the best so you don't have to throw them away. They are also cute when they're little, not so much as adults but enough to love them. And I'm not sure but @celticrose , I think it's Tazmanian devil. We may be talking about different animals though.
