The last episode was shit imo. It was nothing like Light's plans or thought process.
The writer just didn't want the show to continue so he made Light die in the stupidest way possible. When has Light ever trusted anyone in the series? Never, so whats this? A complete stranger who I have never even seen face to face? I'll trust him with my life!
That was complete bullshit. Death Note should've ended the only way it could've. With Near dying and Light winning. Afterwards he would kill Misa and eventually "give up" on the case to find Kira. And then the world would finally be at peace
Meh, I disliked the ending as well, but I think Light was too far gone to keep any of this up for much longer. Besides, if the stress and psychosis didn't drive him to suicide early on, eventually he would die. Despite what he thought of himself, he's still only human - sooner or later, something will kill him, even just old age. And then, even if he HAD managed to purify the world by killing off all the criminals, the world would just revert back to its previous crime-infested state. The whole concept of the show, at least how I saw it, is to emphasize how small we humans are in the grand scheme of things, illustrated by Ryuk's presence throughout the show and his final "it's been interesting," or whatever he says. If Light won, that aspect of the plot is lost.
I suppose... The world would have gone to shit if Light had won, but I think that would have been an interesting thing to show, perhaps until Ryuk got bored again and killed him off.
Thats the thing. Light had NO stress he was happily using the DeathNote and getting plenty of sleep as well. He had a family and a girlfriend that was horny 100% of the time as well
It did take a toll on him in the beginning, but he got used to it in time. Still, the psychological toll of everything he's done would have to reach him eventually, right?
