Make sure it's alright with the hospital first. Sometimes it would do more harm than good to get their hopes up, so ask permission. Each hospital is different.

You often don't have to enter the hospital to set lures up, but I do agree to this if you end up having to go in.
My son was in the children's hospital in okc recently. There were several pokestops and a gym. He is only 2 so he doesn't play, but I do and I'm sure several older kids do.There was a lure going most of the time.
pokemon go hasn't come here yet so i'm not sure how it works, but couldn't this cause other people to go into the hospital and disturbe the patients? many have already gotten into other people's backyards, churches and even the holocaust museum so i don't see why they would draw the line at a children's hospital

Around here, hospitals are PokéStops too but you don't have to enter. PokéStops will be their outdoor decor like a fountain, statue, mural, or such.
Churches and museums are set up by ingress players and Niantic; They are trying to place it at children friendly areas.

I do this a lot. Even at regular hospitals. Incognito style as well.
