Look. I'm a guy, so I shouldn't comment. But it's the internet so I will. I'm pretty sure the uterus is still intact afterwards. And as a male I am sorry that anyone has to go through that.

I know that, but it literally tears out a layer of the lining. However it feels like it's getting ripped apart.

More like, ovulation is like "heyyy guess who wasn't invited to the party but showed up anyways" and menstruation is like "oh okay I see how it is... sorry for intruding... guess I'll just leave... excuse me while I walk to the door and—SIKE BITCH I JUST SET YOUR HOUSE ON FIRE"
