Because America has had a lot of gun violence publicized in the last couple years. It's like we're in our toddler years and can't be trusted with hazardous objects.

@benelenium im not arguing at all. I love watching the olympics. I'm proud of all of the Olympic medalists regardless of event or nation. Some of these children and young adults are at the azimuth of their lives right now. I tear up watching the winners react to the realization of victory. Only maybe another moment or two in their young lives will be that significant, they sacrifice and work so hard for this moment. I was never that caliber an athlete.

I will award the US swimmer who swum the 400m and beat her own world record by a body length! She was 15!

Katie Ledecky, she's 19 now but was 15 when she won 800m gold in London. My daughter loves watching her, and Gabby Douglas. It's beautiful watching children look up to these girls.

I was about to make the same post, but I didn't want to deal with the comments. And I also remembered that Australia's first gold was in shooting too
