Well he didn't have to swim. He was the chef on the boat. He only survived because he managed to find am air pocket, and was discovered by accident when divers came looking for the bodies.

No, I believe it was in the kitchen, where he was because he was the chef. How could he swim around the boat without a scuba mask or something.

I would say by holding his breath but alright that's understandable.

"Bottom of the ocean?" How deep is that? What about the pressure? How'd he survive that? Was it different because he was inside the ship?

Yup. its like a submarine. The pressure is taken by the ship while he is safe inside it.

@pingers It's not like a submarine unless it's airtight. The pressure inside there is still very high but can be withstood by the body. If you watched the video, you can hear that the voice has become very high pitch. Seeing as the divers who rescued him did not need any special equipment to dive, it's clear that the pressure is not fatal as long as the change wasn't too sudden; which is expected since the ship sank slowly.

why would the ship sink slowly? is it due to the air pockets inside the ship?

Yes. And because the ship is huge, it's going to take some time for the water to fill it up.
