You see, there's a difference between fucking FNaF and a good game like Slender. FNaF is based upon things jumping on you and killing you in mere seconds, but Slender is quiet and builds tension. The jumpscare is not a key of the gameplay, merely the end. In Slender you aren't overloaded by big loud things coming at your face, but rather something creeping behind you in the shadows. And to me, that is truly scary.

But slender isn't really all that scary...

I don't know about you, but it is to me. Dark forests have become a big nope. Jumpscare-based games leave me shocked for a second, but creepy, quietly looming games like Slender are what keep me up at night.

I dunno, maybe it's because seeing slendy in the distance just doesn't phase me as it used to.

This explains to me why I am terrified of the latter type of 'horror.' People don't understand why I can't handle things that aren't objectively scary/jumpy...

I like movies about scary people. Because when you watch a paranormal film, you jump and the scary parts and you scream at the monster, but when it's over, you move on. It's easy to not be afraid of ghosts and demons because you know in your heart that they aren't real. Humans are scary. They're scary because they don't have huge claws, or sharp teeth. They look like everybody else. They could be our mom, your friend, your neighbor. People are everywhere and there's no way of knowing who's a monster and who's not. A good horror movie stays with you because you realize that it's dangers are real. It's monsters are human.
