Freedom of speech is when everyone has the chance to speak, but also has the responsibility to respect things others say. You don't have to agree with everything, but you can't ignore everything.

No free speech means say whatever you want but accept the consequences
Let's be specific on "consequences". Losing your friends or having others laugh at you are consequences; the government has no authority to impose any consequences on your speech. Where are the lines, though? Can you yell "fire" in a crowded mall? Can you hold a rally and denounce gays, blacks, or gingers? Can you tell all your friends that you think the iPhone is a piece of crap? Unfortunately this is a somewhat grey area that the "tolerant" left have exploited to essentially limit "free" speech to only that with which they agree. We lost our first amendment when the liberal courts officially recognized "hate speech".
our first amendment wasn't lost because of liberals. we arent killed or arrested for not liking the president or government, you can post what you almost anything you want on the internet, you can do and say countless things that other countries don't get the right to, etc etc. you want a country that doesn't have freedom of speech? go to north Korea. until then, stop complaining like a huge pussy.
you should be smart enough to realize some things should just stay unsaid.
Judging by your response you obviously are a liberal, so your opinion only proves mine.
No, we do not (yet) have a Gestapo making dissedents disappear but we have far too many precedents set by activist courts that cause too many Americans to censor themselves out of fear. We have the beginnings of a national "thought police" coming after people who dare say anything the left do not like. If, for example, a bakery does not wish to bake a cake for a gay couple they are attacked, threatened, boycotted, and sued simply for exercising thier first amendment right to free speech. Nevermind that thousands of other bakeries would happily supply a cake; that one offending bakery must pay a dear price for daring to cross the left.
If I shoot a Muslim in a robbery I will get a much stiffer sentence because it will be called a "hate crime". The victim is no more or less dead because of my motives but the thought police will assume to know my mind and persecute me.
No, we have not officially had a repeal of the first amendment, but we find ourselves already sliding on a very slippery slope with no signs of anyone applying the brakes. If this country cannot soon be turned around we have already as good as lost our first amendment rights.

Im just saying you don't have any reason to complain. Ya'll don't like change, you want the country to be fitted to your beliefs without considering the lives of those who have different beliefs.
its not that bad here when it comes to free speech. Go to Russia, North Korea, or China if you want to see what it's like to really have little freedom of speech.
again, some things should just not be said, that's just logic.
now im done, there's no point in arguing with yo u
Typical liberal; you can't have a civilized debate on the merits of your positions so you people always resort to name calling, throwing tantrums, and trying to stop the conversation. Again you've made my point for me.
Contrary to your methods I support your right to speak your opinions no matter how far out of sync with mine they may be. That's what freedom of speech is meant to be. I wish you on the left WOULDN'T say the extreme and sometimes silly things you do, but I do not wish you COULDN'T say them.
you should be smart enough to realize some things should just stay unsaid.
