We all did this at least once

Most light systems (at least in Ontario, Ohio, and Indiana) have a 5 second delay from the time the opposing light turns yellow to the time your light will turn green. 7-10 second delay if there is an advanced turn signal that allows the turning lanes go before the straight lanes.
